All Suppliers FAQs
General
Ariba is an online Network that supports collaboration between buyers and suppliers, including allowing suppliers to respond to sourcing events, receive orders and send invoices, and manage their supplier information. See the Using Ariba as a Western Power supplier page for more information.
Western Power’s purchase orders contain general terms and conditions. If the purchase order is issued under an existing contract between Western Power and the supplier, then the terms of that existing contract will apply. In these circumstances, the purchase order will include a reference to the contract number of that existing contract.
Where there is no existing contract between Western Power and the supplier, Western Power’s purchase order terms and conditions will apply.
See the Sustainable procurement page on our website for more information.
Becoming a supplier
See our Becoming a supplier page for more information, and our Tenders and registrations of interest page for information on specific upcoming events. Note: If your query is in relation to a sourcing event that is in the market, please contact your relevant sourcing manager.

Tenders and registration of interest
Value for money is a key objective within Western Power’s procurement activities. Value for money ensures that when purchasing goods and/or services, Western Power achieves the best possible outcome, for every dollar spent. This is achieved through assessing financial and non-financial factors, quality, cost and resources; fitness for purpose; total cost of ownership and risk as well as the overall benefits to Western Power and the community, rather than simply selecting the lowest purchase price.
See this our Responding to events in Ariba guide for instructions. If you have a query about the event content please use the messaging feature within the event to submit your question.
Registering your interest to become a supplier provides Western Power with details about your company’s capabilities for consideration for upcoming tender events, however it does not guarantee that you will be invited to an event or awarded any work. You can register your interest for future tender events on our Becoming a supplier page, or register for specific upcoming events on the Tenders and registrations of interest page, however please note Western Power tenders are invitation only.
No, Western Power seeks to obtain the best value for money when purchasing goods and services from external providers.
Western Power uses 'preferred vendor arrangement' for many contracts. Preferred vendor arrangements are established following a tender process to pre-qualify suppliers for specific goods or services. Being a preferred vendor does not guarantee any work, however it does ensure that the ordering process under the arrangement is more streamlined and does not require suppliers to resubmit their standard safety, environment and quality information, or departures from the commercial documentation.
Supplier onboarding
The Western Power Head Office is not considered a site if you are providing a service such as consulting, training or making deliveries. A Western Power site includes depots, substations or any work conducted on the network.
If your service/s include conducting inspections or making deliveries in proximity to the network or in substations then please answer “yes”. If your service(s) only include deliveries made to/from office locations (including depots) or working at a desk in an office environment please answer “no”.
'Supplier onboarding' is the process of accrediting suppliers to trade with Western Power through our procurement systems. Western Power utilises the Ariba system to accredit/onboard suppliers, where suppliers can submit and manage information such as insurances, address and banking details. See our Using Ariba as a Western Power supplier page for more information around the onboarding process.
Email us with details of the issue, including insurance certificate name.
Existing Western Power suppliers will be asked to resubmit their accreditation details in an online format as a once-off activity. Expiring documents such as insurances can then be maintained in an electronic format via Ariba, streamlining the process of updating these important documents with Western Power.
If you can log in, ensure you are in the 'Proposals and Questionnaires' section of Ariba.
Otherwise, contact us and include you username and Ariba Network ID used to log in. Do not share your password with Western Power or external parties.
