Network upgrades in the shires of Dalwallinu, Moora and Coorow to increase network resilience against major weather events is now complete.
Executive Manager of Asset Operations, Zane Christmas said the upgrade work, which began in March, aimed to improve the number and duration of unplanned outages for homes and businesses in the area.
“We’ve replaced around 200 poles and carried out other essential maintenance including replacing cross arms and insulators,” he said.
“The work is in addition to our ongoing maintenance work and covered a vast geographical area within three different shires and a number of different local government areas.
“The power lines predominantly run through rural areas and farming land so we worked closely with local farmers to ensure timing of crops were considered when completing these works."
The upgrades were completed using live line glove and barrier techniques.
“Conducting the upgrades on live lines meant we were able to minimise interruptions to power supply for customers while we completed the work,” Mr Christmas said.
“We’re confident the community will be pleased with the improvement of power reliability as a result of these upgrades and thank them for their patience as we completed this work.”
