  • Western Power to deliver a further 11 underground power projects in Perth
  • 15,000 WA homes and businesses in line for underground power supply

Seven Local Government Authorities will benefit from 11 new projects as part of Western Power’s latest rollout of the Targeted Underground Power Program (TUPP) in Perth.

Up to 15,000 residents and businesses in the Cities of Bayswater, Canning, Cockburn, Belmont, Stirling and Kwinana, and the Town of Bassendean will benefit.

Under the TUPP, Western Power identifies suitable projects and works collaboratively with local governments who take the lead on delivering these programs to their residents.

The areas identified for undergrounding are based on Western Power’s network driven approach, which targets the overhead distribution network with a higher density of assets that are due for replacement.

More than 65 per cent, or 100,000 properties, on Western Australia’s main electricity grid the South West Interconnected System have now converted from overhead distribution power lines to underground power.
