The Operations Transmission Manager is accountable for leading and managing a technically skilled and safe workforce to competently deliver construction, inspections, and maintenance activities for Western Power’s transmission assets throughout the Southwest Interconnected Network (SWIN).

 

This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. With the latest infrastructure and technology, the depot empowers all employees to create that perfect work-life balance whilst operating in an inclusive and diverse workplace.

 

Your Role in Action 

  

  • This position has direct impact on how Western Power executes the construction, maintenance, and repair across the SWIN for Transmission assets as well as delivering emergency response thus directly impacting customer safety, reliability and affordability.
  • In building relationships with immediate team members, business partners and external parties, the incumbent is expected to drive commitment to, and model behaviours consistent with the company’s purpose, values, and objectives.
  • Accountable for executing all transmission maintenance and repair work, ensuring the services provided are consistent with commercially competitive standards across substation and transmission line assets.
  • Accountable for minimising the outage impact on Western Power’s transmission network through exceptional scheduling coordination and project management, including building relationships with Western Power Network Control centre.
  • Assist the Head of Function to determine effective transmission services delivery plans and processes to enable execution of the works program.
  • Have input into the development of the Operational Maintenance business plan and ensure that you deliver key actions assigned to you. Sponsor and communicate the plan in your area.
  • Ensure the effective management of resources within your area including people, vehicles, plant, and equipment as well as being accountable for managing the labour and materials budget for your area and providing commentary to the Head of Operations Maintenance to support financial reporting.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering discipline, or Trade based qualifications with significant experience in a similar type of role. (Essential)
  • A qualification in project management or business discipline
  • High level knowledge of transmission electricity assets and their purposes
  • High level of knowledge of the operations of a distribution and transmission business, with at least 10 + years’ demonstrated experience in providing effective management of a field workforce
  • Willingness to travel
  • Have significant experience in a project delivery environment, with strong leadership skills and the ability to think strategically with an understanding of the transmission network operations
  • Proven contract management skills and experience in developing and maintaining a safe working environment, with a proven safety record
  • An understanding of risk and compliance management and its application in the business
