Lead Strategic Contract Management for High-Value Design Projects

 

We are seeking a Contract Manager with a strategic mindset to join our Engineering and Design team in Perth. This is a permanent role where you will drive the performance and delivery of complex, high-value contracts, ensuring their alignment with Western Power’s Contract Management Framework. You will provide expert guidance and strategic oversight across key contracts, focusing on critical aspects such as safety, environmental compliance, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Accountable for driving the overall performance of assigned complex / high value contracts, and for providing subject matter expert contract advice and guidance.
  • Ensure that all contracts are managed in line with Western Power’s Contract Management Framework inclusive of the Procurement Policy and the Contract Management Standard.
  • Sound knowledge of the external design market and capability.
  • Strong working knowledge of, and the ability to interpret legislation with regards to contract law
  • Foster strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders, ensuring efficient Engineering and Design delivery within schedule and budgetary requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership to the contracts team and project engineers.
  • Ability to influence demonstrated through complex negotiation.
  • Complete supplier performance meetings and reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining a mindset of continuous improvement in line with the Contract Management Framework and functional initiatives.

Review and approval of contract artefacts, including, but not limited to:

  • Contracts
  • Variations
  • EOT
  • Progress Claims

 

Monitor and manage compliance to the supplier plans including:

  • Safety
  • Environmental
  • Quality
  • Schedule
  • Pricing Schedule

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Degree or equivalent in Business, Law or Commerce
  • Contract Management Qualification
  • Broad and extensive knowledge and expertise and proven understanding of contract management
  • At least 10 + years significant contract management experience including high value / highly complex contracts
  • Have strong working knowledge of and the ability to interpret legislation with regards to contract law
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, complimented by influencing/negotiation skills
  • Strong experience in negotiation, conflict resolution and managing public and stakeholder relations
  • The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels within a corporate environment
