Our work experience programs, including our Vacation program, Work Integrated Learning, Work Experience, and Business Trainee programs, will give you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from industry veterans, and practically apply your nationally recognised qualifications in an exciting, forward-thinking environment.
Vacation program
Use your degree to gain valuable ‘hands on” experience with our 12-week paid vacation program. Our program runs for three months over your university summer break, usually from end of November to mid-February.

Work integrated learning
We offer unpaid work integrated learning opportunities throughout the year, depending on your availability, in the following disciplines:
- electrical engineering
- computer science
- applied mathematics and statistics
- IT and cyber security
- data analytics
- project management
- management
- finance
Register your interest
All work integrated learning placements are unpaid and must be a requirement of your qualification.
Work experience
We offer a number of work experience placements during the year, dependant on scheduling and availability. The majority of our work experience offered is field based, predominantly for those completing a Certificate II in an electrical field where part of the requirement of the qualification is to complete field-based work experience.
These unpaid placements usually vary from one to two weeks, and is a unique chance to see first hand how we operate.

Business trainees
A traineeship provides an entry level pathway into Western Power as part of a formal Traineeship Program while you complete a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Business.
You'll develop, gain knowledge and experience through both the formal qualification and exposure to the technical, operational and safety aspects of the business.
These positions suit individuals who have recently completed year 11 or 12 and are ready to commence a career in administration. A Western Power traineeship is a maximum term 12 month contract.
