Reporting incidents and emergencies
You must report all incidents of electric shock and accidents, no matter how small
Seek out asset information well in advance from Dial Before You Dig. The plans you receive will show the location and voltages of overhead and underground electrical network assets in your work area. Voltage information supplied can be used to determine required clearances.
Perform an onsite inspection to ascertain the existence, location, depth and alignment of assets. Observing safe approach distances as stipulated by OSH Regulations section 3.64 and any other relevant industry standards and requirements.
Perform a job risk assessment and develop a safe work method statement to manage the risk.
Considering options that do not require working near the Western Power network. If you cannot work outside of the danger zone/s submit an application to Western Power to have the lines de-energised, isolated, relocated or removed. Options are also available to have visual aerial covers installed.
