Technical Compliance Report (TCR) A sample report with guidelines to assist applicants in determining and verifying their Technical Rules compliance. Subject to review and acceptance by Western Power.
Technical Rules Exemption Request (TER) A sample Technical Rules exemption request with guidelines to assist applicants in seeking an exemption from a particular Technical Rules clause that they are unable to meet. Subject to review and approval by Western Power.
General Exemption: Protection requirements Technical Rules exemption from clauses 3.6.10.1(d) and 3.6.10.1(g) for qualifying inverters between 30 kVA and 1 MVA aggregate capacity. Subject to review and approval by Western Power.
General Exemption: Two phase connections Technical Rules exemption from clause 3.2.1(d)(2) for qualifying transmission connections. Subject to review and approval by Western Power.
General Exemption: Multi-residential developments with shared connection Technical Rules exemption from clause 3.6 for qualifying residential inverters between 30 kVA and 500 kVA aggregate capacity sharing a connection point. Subject to review and approval by Western Power.
General Advisory Notice: Frequency control A clarification of Technical Rules clause 3.3.4.4(d) addressing dead band requirements for generators above 10 MW.
Technical Rules Exemptions granted by Western Power A comprehensive list of all Technical Rules exemptions granted by Western Power to various Users since their conception in 2007.
Network Integration Guidelines The Network Integration Guidelines details requirements for AS/NZS 4777 compliant Inverter Embedded Generator (IEG) systems based on the customer’s connection arrangement from the Western Power network.
Battery Inverter Energy Systems (IES) Requirements Details requirements in addition to the Network Integration Guideline for these Battery IES. This interim document is to be used in conjunction with the Network Integration Guideline and implementation will be required by the 1st January 2018.

Technical guidance for solar installers If your application is for an embedded generation system meets the criteria outlined in the technical guidance for solar installers, then in most instances, you can get approval without the need for a technical review.
Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) - Technical Rules Western Power must apply to the ERA to amend its Technical Rules or to apply for an exemption. Amendments approved by the ERA and previous versions of the Technical Rules can be found on the ERA's website.
