Electric vehicle to grid system

An electric vehicle to grid system allows an electric vehicle to send power (i.e. discharge its battery) to the grid or to control charging of its battery in response to changing grid conditions. Electric vehicles are an emerging transport technology that are an alternative to petrol or diesel fuelled vehicles. Currently most electric vehicles only require charging from an electrical connection. The next evolution of electric vehicles is to integrate other functionalities to reduce demand, to manage charging rates and schedule times for charging.

An electric vehicle to grid system is a form of embedded generation and you'll need written approval before it may be connected to the Western Power network.

Use the form below if you want to connect an electric vehicle to our network to send power to the network or to control the charging of your vehicle's battery in response to changing network conditions.
