What more do I need to know?

  • Before applying you need to have approval from the local government authority
  • Information on our standard and decorative streetlights is available in our distribution design catalogue
  • When you have accepted your design, please peg the streetlight locations on site before construction starts
  • If any of your streetlights will be located on water, gas or communications, the utility that owns them will need to approve it. You can find information on their methods in the Utility Code of Practice
  • If you would like to relocate a streetlight within a transmission easement, request a technical evaluation from us first
  • The standard alignment for our streetlights is:
    • 2.7m from the lot boundary or
    • 0.7m from the curb on a straight section of road, or
    • 1.0m from the curb on curved sections of road with speed limits of 70km/h or less

What will I need to complete this application?

How much will it cost?

Relocating or removing a streetlight which doesn’t affect any other equipment typically costs between $5,000 - $15,000.

The cost variation is quite high for this service as there are a wide variety of factors affecting price. When designing the plans for your request we always strive to minimise the cost to you.

What if I change my mind or want to cancel my application?

Sometimes your circumstances change and you may need to cancel or change the information within your application after you have submitted it to us.

If you wish to change the scope of work in your application we will first review the change and then either:

  • continue the project with the variation and invoice you for any additional materials, design work and remobilisation costs incurred. We will typically only take this approach when the change is very minor.

or

  •  if the change is significant we will cancel your project. You will need to submit a new application with your new requirements.

For cancelled applications we will invoice you for the costs incurred up to the point of cancellation (time and materials). If construction work has already commenced we will refund the difference from your access offer less any costs incurred.

Fees and charges

Following the cancellation, expiry, termination or variation of the Customer Work Request or any other aspect of the works or documentation relating to the works, the customer may be liable to pay an administration fee of $550 (inclusive of GST) and any additional costs incurred by Western Power. Further information can be found in our Terms and Conditions clauses 8 and 16.3.
