Disconnections

There are many reasons that you may need to disconnect from Western Power's network. Maybe it's for a renovation project or you need to ensure the safety of a job being done near powerlines. Whatever the reason our table outlines the options.

Please note if you have received a notice about being disconnected due to billing issues, please contact your retailer.

How long will it take?

  • 3 weeks to disconnect after application is received
  • 3 weeks to provide you with a quote
  • 10 weeks to construct
  • 3 weeks to provide you with a quote
  • 10 weeks to isolate once payment is received
  • 2 weeks to provide you with a quote
  • 6 weeks to request an isolation once initial payment of $250 has been made

Fees and charges

Following the cancellation, expiry, termination or variation of a Customer Work Request, the customer may be liable to pay a fee of $550 and any additional costs incurred (inclusive of GST). Further information can be found in our Terms and Conditions 16.3.

Initial invoice fee of $250. A quote for the isolation will be provided and invoiced. Any additional expenses will be invoiced and unspent revenue will be refunded.

Do you need to permanently disconnect from the network?

For residential customers with a standard supply, a permanent disconnection is completed through your electricity retailer. The supply abolishment request will be assessed by your retailer who will then get in touch with us to complete the work. Most often this service is required to demolish a home.

Please note that no demolition work can commence until a 'Disconnected for Demolition Notice’ from Western Power is in the meter box.
