Aerial surveying

We are currently conducting our largest ever airborne survey of the electricity network, using state-of-the-art LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology.

A small plane fitted with laser scanners and aerial cameras is surveying and capturing data of our entire network. The survey is being undertaken by global surveying company Fugro ROAMES.

The aircraft will fly at 2,000ft to 3,000ft and data will be collected over an 11-month period. We do not expect any disruption to customers.

The data collected during the survey will have wide ranging benefits, including vegetation assessment, asset inspections, overhead line clearances and design surveys.
