Western Power has deployed 16 Metropolitan crews to assist local crews in South West after about 16,000 people lost power in the area after last night's storms. Approximately 13,000 customers are still without power in this area, with a little over 1,000 in Metropolitan Perth.
Manjimup and Bridgetown remain the worst affected areas with more than 5,000 people without power. Six power generators are currently being deployed to this area.
A fault on a transmission line appears to be the main cause of interruptions, accounting for the majority of outages in the South West region.
A helicopter is currently inspecting the transmission line in a bid to find the fault. Once identified, ground crews will enter work as safely and quickly as possible to restore supply.
At this stage it is not possible to provide an estimate for when supply will be restored in the South West.
A reminder for the public - If you see fallen powerlines remember to stay clear and make the safe call to Western Power on 13 13 51.
