Waroona bushfire electricity update - 7 January

The Waroona bushfire has affected the electricity supply for Western Power customers.

More than 7,000 customers are currently without power but this is changing as the fire progresses. The most affected areas are Waroona, Dwellingup, and Preston Beach. Affected customers are encouraged to make alternative plans on the basis that power will not be restored today.

Western Power crews are currently unable to access the area to assess what damage may have been done to the network.

If the bushfire has damaged power poles and lines, some customers may be without power until the area is declared safe and Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and the Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW) grant Western Power access to start rebuilding the electricity network.

Western Power is working closely with DFES and DPaW to help minimise the impact of electricity interruptions and prepare for a significant recovery effort.

Further updates will be provided as information is available.
