Parkerville bushfire

Western Power has been able to make an early assessment of the extent of damage to the electricity network  in  Parkerville.

Approximately 150 power poles have been destroyed or damaged by the fire.

Our crews are on stand-by ready to enter the fire damaged area to start rebuilding the network as soon as DFES gives the all clear to enter.

Approximately 1000 customers are without power due to the fire damage.

Re-building of the network is expected to take three to four days but reconnection to individual homes will take longer as some property owners will need qualified electricians to check their household powerline is safe before the power is turned back on.

Members from the Western Power operational team will be in attendance at the community forums in fire affected areas to answer any questions customers may have around restoration of power supply.

Our crews will continue to work closely with DFES personnel who are responsible for clearing debris from the area.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

What to do?  Make the safe call.

1) if you see fallen power lines - stay clear and call Western Power's emergency line on 13 13 51
2) if power lines fall across your car - stay inside the car until help arrives
