Crews granted access to begin Parkerville rebuild – 3.30pm update

Western Power crews are on stand-by and ready to start rebuilding the electricity network damaged in the Parkerville fire.

Teams have been given access to determine the level of damage. It is estimated more than 150 power poles and more than 6 kms of power lines will need to be replaced.

Approximately 1,000 customers are without power due to the fire damage in the area.

Before crews can start rebuilding the network, burnt trees and debris in danger of collapsing will need to be cleared. Western Power will continue to work with DFES to make the area safe.

Poles and equipment are being delivered in preparation for the re-build, which is not expected to be able to start before Wednesday.

Western Power crews will work through the weekend.

What to do?  Make the safe call.

  1. If you see fallen power lines - stay clear and call Western Power's emergency line on 13 13 51
  2. If power lines fall across your car - stay inside the car until help arrives
