System Management is a segregated business unit within Western Power established under the Wholesale Electricity Market Rules.
System Management is responsible for the operation and control of generator facilities, transmission and distribution networks, and large customer retailer supply management including demand side management. It has a central role in the scheduling of generator and transmission outages, and manage the real-time operation of the power system.
Our overarching function is to maintain safe, secure and reliable operation of the power system in accordance with the Technical Rules within the Access Arrangement and the Technical Envelope within the Market Rules.
System Management has established interfaces at many levels for a number of stakeholders. These include the distribution and transmission network business, the Independent Market Operator, generation facility operators and retailers.
