Environment matters

We all use electricity every day.  In the morning it’s used for heating water for your shower and cooking your toast. During the school day, electricity provides power to the computers in the library, the bell at break time and the lights in your classroom.  Think about all of the rooms in your school - that's a lot of lights!

Electricity is the flow of electrical power or charge. We get electricity from converting other sources of energy. The energy sources we use to make electricity can be renewable or non-renewable.

Using non-renewable sources not only means that one day they will run out, but it also means that we are releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Greenhouse Gases are helping to cause climate change. Not only do they contribute to climate change, they also have more local effects. It is up to all of us to help reduce increases to greenhouse gases. To do this, we must be aware of the connection between all the things we rely on in our daily lives and the impacts of producing them. Where to from here?
