ShockProof! your students with our in-school safety education program

Did you know that the amount of electricity going into your home is 240 volts? That’s enough power to kill you 5 times over. That’s why it is so important to be safe around electricityWe use electricity every day for all kinds of things.

It is very important, but it can be dangerous.

Knowing a bit about electricity can help keep you safe at home, school and outside.

Shocking facts!

  • Electricity works in a loop like a circle/circuit
  • Turning off a switch breaks the circle and stops the electricity
  • Did you know our bodies contain about 70% water!Electricity travels easily through water, metal and you! If electricity can pass through you, you become a conductor!
  • Electricity always goes to earth, and it travels through conductors to get there!
  • Switches, plugs, appliances and power points are not toys – never, never play with them!
  • Do not overload power points by piggybacking adaptors.  Incorrect usage of adaptors or power boards can result in home and office fires, endangering lives and causing considerable property damage. A power point has a certain number of plug sockets for a reason! Only use a power board with a built in safety switch/circuit"!
