In January 2006 Western Power installed a 132,000 Volt (132 kV) underground cable between Grand Promenade and Drake Street in Bayswater. A 19-metre transition pole has been installed at each end of the cable line to connect it to the existing overhead powerlines.
The works were part of Western Power's network reinforcement program and necessary to maintain the reliability and quality of power supply in the area.
