Widespread power interruptions as storm crosses the coast

The metropolitan area suffered the brunt of the front that crossed the coast earlier today. Approximately 52,000 customers are currently without power.
In the largest single interruption, power has been cut to a major transformer in the Riverton substation affecting approximately 10,000 customers.
The main cause of faults today has been related to the storm. Debris, including household material, has blown into powerlines causing damage and in some cases bringing down the powerlines.

- Landsdale 2000

- Wilson 1000
- Forrestfield 1000
- High Wickcombe 1000
- Middle Swan 1000
- Kalamunda 800
There are a number of reports of powerlines down. Western Power urges people to take care and stay clear of any downed or damaged powerlines.
Western Power crews will attend to hazards in the first instance to ensure the safety of the general public and will then attend to faults and restore power. Over 120 hazards have been reported to Western Power so far today.
