Environment
Western Power’s activities take place in the south west of Western Australia, which is internationally recognised as having unique environmental values.
We aspire to play a leading role in environmental management in the electricity sector by planning and conducting our activities to minimise the impact on the environment for the benefit of current and future generations.
Key initiatives Western Power implements to reduce its impact on the environment include:
- Environmentally Sensitive Areas program
- cleaning up oil spills
- native animal protection, for example bird conservation, conserving cockatoos, protecting possums
Environmental leadership and adherence to the Western Power Environmental Policy (PDF 110 kb) is the responsibility of all Western Power employees and contractors, suppliers and vendors. The Managing Director and Executive Management are accountable to the Board of Directors for the development and implementation of this policy through the Environmental Management System.
Environmental performance is reported in Western Power’s Annual Report (PDF 3.8Mb) and in the Greenhouse inventory and reporting section of the website.
